The Gym 2 Crag Series presented by Rab Equipment and SAI Guides will make your transition from the gym to climbing outdoors a safe and fun adventure.

This two-session Gym-to-Crag series is designed for those who have had the opportunity to climb indoors and familiarize themselves with common climbing systems such as top-roping and/or lead climbing. This course is all-encompassing and starts off with a classroom session, where we will discuss equipment, ethics, anchoring, belaying, rappelling, safety, and more. The outdoor session will be held outside in Clear Creek Canyon outside of Golden, CO. We will all build anchors, clean anchors, practice knots & hitches, rappel, and do some climbing! Every participant will have an opportunity to practice all of these new skills while under the supervision of an experienced, and AMGA Certified Single-Pitch Instructor.

This course is held over two days, Tuesday, August 15th (2 hrs) and Saturday, August 19th (6hrs).

  • Tuesday evening classroom session is held at the RAB Store in Denver.
  • Saturday outdoor session will take place in Clear Creek Canyon, outside of Golden, CO.

This course does NOT include instruction on how to lead climb. If you have practiced lead climbing in the climbing gym, then course participants will be provided opportunities to practice those skills during this course.

RISK MANAGEMENT

Risk managementΒ is SAI’s number one priority. Our guides manage significant hazards inherent in the mountains such as avalanches, ice fall, rock fall, inclement weather, and high winds, but they cannot eliminate them. SAI guides draw from their wealth of experience and training to make sound decisions that maximize your experience without compromising the necessary margin of safety. Please clearly understand that mountaineering and all other mountain adventures are inherently hazardous sports. You are choosing to engage in an activity in which participants have been injured and killed. While those accidents are indeed infrequent, they may occur at any time and be out of our control. We ask that participants acknowledge the risk and hazards of these sports, and make their own choices about whether or not to engage in these activities.
