He managed to climb 79 pitches in 5 days and spent time with climbing legend George Lowe who is still climbing 10+ at age 78! 💪 If you haven’t heard, this is THE place for long multi-pitch sport climbs. The AMGA Single Pitch Instructor Program is designed to enable climbing instructors to “proficiently facilitate and instruct the sport of rock climbing in a single pitch setting.” The SPI Course is not a ‘climbing’ course; it is an instructor training course for current, proficient and active rock climbers that aspire to instruct and for current climbing instructors who wish to gain the SPI certification. The course teaches many instructor specific tools enabling the individual to deliver exceptional experiences to students and clients in the single pitch environment.

This course consists of online learning, an evening virtual session (Feb 23), and 2 field days (Feb 25 & 26) in beautiful Rocky Mountain National Park. We like this hybrid format as it allows you to work through the course material at your own pace and makes scheduling more convenient.
We’re excited to have Max Lurie @alpinetothemax as our course leader. Max is a veteran front range guide and one of the best instructors in the business.
Students must be able to travel off-trail on ungroomed or unmaintained terrain and bring appropriate equipment for traveling on snow (skis, splitboard, or snowshoes), but there are no other prerequisites for this course.
