Carl is a Washington native who began climbing when he was in high school. His passion for climbing has guided all of his most important decisions in life and he has worked as a climbing instructor in various forms for more than 10 years. He considers it a great privilege to share the joy and self-discovery climbing brings with those he has the opportunity to teach. He is also a lifelong skier who began skiing at Steven’s Pass and Alpental when he was in middle school.
He is an AMGA certified Single Pitch Instructor, Assistant Rock Guide, Apprentice Alpine Guide, and Apprentice Ski Guide. He is also an AIARE Instructor who is actively engaged in the process of becoming an IFMGA Certified Mountain Guide. As a well-rounded climber, Carl is equally comfortable on steep sport pitches, technical gear-protected cracks, massive alpine routes, water ice, and ski mountaineering missions. He loves experiencing different types of terrain and dialing in systems to excel in each discipline.
