Sensei Overview

If you have some ice climbing experience or have taken our Intro course or similar through another guide service, our intermediate course is designed to build on and fine tune your existing skills. Lessons here focus on dialing in vertical ice skills, work on leading ice with appropriate ice screw placement, practice rigging belay stations with bolts or screws, and improving skills with ice axe and crampon placement.



Course Details

What to Bring:
Skills you will learn:
  • We will provide you with an equipment list once you sign up

  • Build efficiency and skills on vertical ice

  • Discuss and work on leading ice with ice screw placement

  • Work on rigging belay stations on ice whether is be with bolts in rock or Ice screws

  • Build further skills of Ice axe and crampon placement



  • Either our Intro to Ice climbing or similar class with another guide service

  • Several Ice climbing days outside of your intro course

  • Usually 8:00am-4:00pm, but could be slightly shorter based on weather

  • Approx. 8 hours including hike time

Price Includes:
  • An AMGA certified guide

  • All required Group climbing gear

  • Harness

  • Helmet

  • Boots

  • Crampons

  • Ice Tools

  • Avy gear required based on venue chosen: Avalanche transceiver, shovel, probe 

Price Does not Include:
  • Food

  • Transportation

  • Clothing, backpack and any personal items

  • Any type of insurance pertaining to a high risk sport

  • Gratuity if you decide your guide did a great job

Meeting Location:

This will be provided before the class, it changes with ice conditions and venue chosen for the day
